CASE STUDY: Designing Grand Entrances with Live Foliage: Creating an Oasis at a Private Residence

Transforming a Private Residence in Miami’s Venetian Islands
For this installation, we partnered with Rose Gold Collective to design a dramatic jungle-inspired entrance for a private event at a residence in the beautiful Venetian Islands in Miami.
The home featured an impressive entrance façade with significant height and width. However, like many residential event settings, the entry area required thoughtful styling to conceal operational elements and prepare the space for guests.
Our task was twofold:
Mask unsightly areas around the entrance
Create a striking grand entrance that aligned with the jungle-themed event
Scaling the Architecture with Vertical Greenery
When designing greenery for tall façades, scale becomes essential. Plants must match the vertical proportions of the architecture to create balance.
For this installation, we selected Ficus lyrata tree rentals, commonly known as fiddle leaf figs, to create tall botanical columns framing the entrance. Their large sculptural leaves and upright growth pattern allowed the plants to visually extend the height of the façade.
Fiddle leaf figs are frequently used in luxury plant rentals and interior greenery installations because they offer strong vertical presence without appearing overly dense.
Layering Tropical Texture and Volume
To complement the vertical ficus columns, we layered a curated mix of tropical plant rentals including:
Wide tropical palm varieties
Lush fern installations
The palms provided volume and movement, while the ferns introduced softer texture at lower levels. Together, these elements created a lush botanical composition that reinforced the jungle-inspired theme.
This layered approach is commonly used in tropical themed event décor and luxury event foliage design, where plants are arranged to mimic natural landscapes.
Extending the Design to the Outdoor Entertainment Areas
Beyond the entrance, greenery was also used to enhance the event’s back patio space.
Palm tree rentals and tropical foliage décor were positioned to flank the bars, creating a cohesive botanical environment that flowed from the front entrance through the rest of the property.
Flanking bars with greenery is a common technique in event lounge greenery and hospitality décor, helping anchor social areas while softening surrounding architecture.
Creating a Private Oasis
By combining tall ficus trees, layered tropical palms, and lush ferns, the residence was transformed into a private jungle oasis for the evening.
The greenery not only concealed logistical elements of the home but also created a visually immersive environment that aligned perfectly with the event’s theme.
