TEMPORARY TROPICS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What makes Temporary Tropics different?
Temporary Tropics is more than a live foliage rental company—we are a biophilic design haus rooted in hospitality, thoughtful planning, and ethical horticulture.
Following new ownership in 2025, our company became uniquely led by two complementary disciplines: a Master Botanist and a former Executive Meeting Planner. Together, that experience influences every aspect of our work—from sustainable nursery practices and plant health to event logistics, attendee experience, and thoughtful design.
We believe beautiful environments begin long before installation. Our plants are nurtured through responsible nursery practices, filtered irrigation systems, and meticulous preparation before arriving onsite. Every installation is then professionally styled to ensure the final presentation feels intentional, balanced, and elevated.
Regardless of budget, our commitment remains the same: to deliver intuitive service, thoughtful design, and living environments that leave a lasting impression.
Does Temporary Tropics offer services + inventory beyond live foliage rentals?
Absolutely. While live foliage rentals remain the foundation upon which Temporary Tropics was built over 20 years ago, today we operate as a biophilic design haus specializing in thoughtfully curated environments and elevated experiences.
Our ever-evolving portfolio now includes premium live foliage rentals, tropical florals, designer planters, custom biophilic installations, event décor, elevated entertainment, botanical team-building experiences, outdoor activations, and interior landscaping solutions for both temporary and permanent environments.
Temporary Tropics was originally founded by Mark Grassini and Brian Brittany, whose unwavering commitment to exceptional Client service and creativity established the company as one of South Florida's trusted live foliage rental providers.
In 2024, Joseph Michel, a Master Botanist, joined the company as Mark and Brian prepared for retirement. The following year, Joseph partnered with Lili Susana, DMCP, CIS, MIB—a former Meeting and Event Planner—to acquire Temporary Tropics and thoughtfully expand its vision.
Today, our combined expertise in horticulture, meeting planning, hospitality, and biophilic design allows us to serve our Clients well beyond traditional plant rentals. Through an extensive network of trusted professionals, we often become a Business Affiliate—introducing the right resources, collaborators, and creative solutions whenever they support the overall success of your project.
Why live foliage? Why not just go with artificial plants?
Live foliage offers something artificial plants simply cannot replicate: life.
Beyond their visual beauty, living plants introduce movement, depth, texture, natural variation, and an authentic energy that immediately transforms interior and exterior environments. Numerous studies have shown that biophilic design—the intentional integration of nature into built environments—can positively influence mood, reduce stress, improve productivity, and create more memorable guest experiences.
Artificial plants certainly have their place. However, for conferences, conventions, executive meetings, luxury hospitality, and live events where attendees experience the environment firsthand, living greenery provides an authenticity that synthetic materials cannot duplicate.
From a production perspective, live foliage also photographs more naturally. Healthy leaves create richer contrast, greater depth, and more believable surroundings for photography, videography, broadcast, and experiential marketing activations.
Living plants also provide functional design solutions. They can soften technology-heavy environments, conceal service areas, define spaces, improve acoustics, introduce subtle fragrance through carefully selected species, and create organic transitions throughout a venue.
Timeless, versatile, and endlessly adaptable, live foliage remains one of the most impactful design investments available for both corporate and social events.
Why chooseTemporary Tropics for interiorscaping?
Beautiful interiors begin with selecting the right plants—not simply attractive ones.
Successful interior landscaping depends on understanding how individual plant species will perform within the unique conditions of each environment, including available natural light, humidity, airflow, temperature, maintenance schedules, and anticipated growth over time.
As a biophilic design haus led by a Master Botanist, we begin every interiorscaping project with an onsite consultation to understand your space before recommending plant species that are genuinely suited to thrive there.
Whether you're looking to transform a corporate office, hotel lobby, restaurant, healthcare facility, luxury residence, or commercial building, we develop a customized interiorscape plan designed around long-term success—not short-term appearance.
From initial installation to ongoing maintenance, replacement scheduling, and seasonal enhancements, we can manage as much—or as little—of the process as you prefer. Our objective is simple: to create interior landscapes that remain healthy, beautiful, and sustainable long after installation.
What types of plant rentals does Temporary Tropics offer?

We invite you to browse our Plant Species Library for a comprehensive overview of our inventory.
Should your vision call for a specific plant species outside our standard inventory, we're happy to source additional living material through our trusted network of specialty growers.
Rental terms are equally flexible and range from same-day installations and multi-day conferences to semi-permanent and permanent interior landscaping solutions.
Does Temporary Tropics provide plant rentals for corporate events?
Absolutely. Corporate events represent one of our principal areas of expertise. We regularly curate premium live foliage rentals and biophilic design packages for executive leadership summits, annual meetings, conventions, conferences, board meetings, shareholder gatherings, hospitality lounges, product launches, brand activations, awards ceremonies, media productions, executive dinners, and corporate celebrations.
As former Meeting Planners, we understand that live foliage should do more than decorate a room—it should support attendee flow, soften architecture, elevate the guest experience, and contribute meaningfully to the overall event design.
Our objective is to create living environments that feel intentional, polished, and seamlessly integrated into your event.
Does Temporary Tropics provide plant rentals for conferences and conventions?
Yes. Conferences and conventions are among the environments we serve most frequently.
We thoughtfully design biophilic environments for conference centers, convention halls, exhibit floors, general sessions, breakout rooms, registration areas, executive lounges, hospitality suites, speaker stages, sponsor activations, and networking spaces throughout Florida and nationwide.
Because our leadership comes from the meetings and hospitality industry, we understand the unique operational requirements of conferences—from freight elevators and targeted move-in windows to venue logistics, attendee circulation, and compressed installation schedules.
Every live foliage package is thoughtfully curated to complement both the venue and the overall conference experience.
Does Temporary Tropics offer plant rentals for trade shows and exhibits?
Absolutely. Trade shows and exhibits represent one of our core specialties.
We regularly provide live foliage rentals for exhibits, conventions, conferences, expos, and brand activations throughout Florida and across the United States. Whether your exhibit is taking place in a convention center, hotel ballroom, exhibition hall, or custom venue, our team works closely with exhibitors, event agencies, destination management companies (DMCs), production companies, and venue partners to curate greenery that complements your brand while maximizing attendee engagement.
As former Meeting Planners, we understand the operational nuances of exhibit schedules, targeted move-in windows, freight elevators, union regulations, and venue logistics, allowing our installations to integrate seamlessly into the overall production schedule.
Does Temporary Tropics provide plant rentals for sporting events and activations?
Yes. Major sporting events and brand activations are among our favorite environments to design for.
Temporary Tropics curates large-scale live foliage packages for professional sporting events, hospitality villages, sponsor activations, executive lounges, VIP experiences, media centers, fan engagement spaces, and international tournaments throughout Florida and the United States.
Our experience includes projects supporting organizations and events associated with the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, FIFA, PGA Tour, ATP Tour, WTA Tour, collegiate athletics, and numerous nationally recognized sporting organizations.
Sporting events often involve compressed installation schedules, heightened security requirements, and complex venue operations. Our meeting planning background allows us to anticipate these operational demands while delivering polished biophilic environments that elevate the overall guest experience.
Does Temporary Tropics service Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Orlando, and Tampa?
Yes. Temporary Tropics proudly services the entire United States, with South Florida serving as our home and primary service region.
Our team regularly provides premium live foliage rentals, corporate plant rentals, conference plant rentals, convention greenery, hospitality installations, experiential marketing greenery, and interior landscaping services throughout Miami, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Naples, Sarasota, the Florida Keys, and many additional destinations nationwide.
For a complete list of our primary markets, we invite you to visit our Service Areas page.
How do I request a proposal?
Thank you for considering Temporary Tropics.
We would be delighted to learn more about your event, project, or vision.
You may submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) through our online inquiry form, email us directly, or speak with a member of our team by calling 954.937.7567.
The more information you're able to share—including your venue, event dates, desired aesthetic, estimated quantities, floor plans, inspiration imagery, mood boards, and budget—the more thoughtfully we can curate a live foliage package tailored specifically to your needs.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend reserving your live foliage rentals as early as possible, particularly during Florida's busiest conference, convention, hospitality, wedding, and sporting event seasons.
That said, we also understand that biophilic design is sometimes one of the final elements incorporated into an event—and occasionally the need arises unexpectedly.
As former Meeting Planners ourselves, we've experienced firsthand how quickly event priorities evolve. Because of that understanding, we routinely accommodate expedited requests whenever inventory and scheduling allow, including many same-day and next-day installations throughout South Florida.
Whenever possible, earlier planning provides the greatest inventory selection and additional opportunities for customization.
Does Temporary Tropics accommodate last-minute requests?
Yes. In fact, we're frequently called upon to fulfill last-minute live foliage rentals for conferences, conventions, executive meetings, hospitality events, sporting events, experiential marketing activations, and luxury social gatherings throughout Florida.
Whether responding to evolving event needs or assisting Clients when unexpected circumstances arise, our team works diligently to accommodate every viable request while maintaining the same level of professionalism and thoughtful execution we bring to every project.
Availability naturally depends upon inventory and scheduling, though we'll always do our best to help.
This completes the first portion in a natural, sequential flow. I think it already reads much more like a conversation with a prospective Client rather than a collection of unrelated questions. The next section will transition naturally into design consultation, plant selection, inventory, planters, and the installation process, which is exactly where a reader's mind goes next.
Does Temporary Tropics help choose the right plants for my event?
Absolutely. Selecting the appropriate plant species is one of the most important aspects of successful biophilic design.
Following an initial discovery conversation, we'll thoughtfully curate two to three live foliage package options for your review, refining them collaboratively until every design objective has been achieved.
Our proposals include professional visuals, transparent pricing, and thoughtfully curated recommendations, allowing you to evaluate each option with confidence.
To provide the strongest recommendations possible, we encourage including the following with your initial inquiry whenever available:
Event dates
Venue location(s)
Floor plans
Renderings
Mood boards
Ceiling heights
Height restrictions
Brand guidelines
Budget parameters
The more information we're able to review upfront, the more thoughtfully we can tailor a live foliage package specifically for your event.
What plants are best for indoor events?
The ideal indoor plant depends entirely upon the environment it's entering.
Available natural light, ceiling height, room temperature, airflow, event duration, venue architecture, guest circulation, and the overall design aesthetic all influence which plant species will perform best.
As a biophilic design haus led by both a Master Botanist and a former Executive Meeting Planner, we evaluate each of these considerations before recommending the most appropriate living inventory.
Following our discovery process, we'll typically present two to three thoughtfully curated options designed specifically for your venue and event objectives.
We also invite you to explore The Temporary Tropics Times, where we regularly feature individual plant species, educational articles, and examples of how various plants perform across conferences, conventions, executive meetings, hospitality environments, and luxury events.
What plants are best for stages?
Every stage presents its own unique design opportunities.
The ideal plant selection depends upon numerous factors, including stage dimensions, viewing angles, venue architecture, surrounding décor, audiovisual elements, branding, speaker visibility, photography requirements, budget, and the overall atmosphere you're hoping to create.
Rather than relying upon a single formula, we thoughtfully curate stage greenery based upon both design principles and operational considerations.
Following our consultation, we'll generally present two to three customized stage concepts that balance aesthetics, functionality, and budget while complementing the overall event experience.
For additional inspiration, we encourage exploring The Temporary Tropics Times, where you'll find educational articles highlighting many of our favorite stage plants—including why certain species perform exceptionally well for conferences, conventions, executive leadership summits, hospitality events, and live productions.
Does Temporary Tropics have plants be used to divide spaces or create privacy?
Absolutely. Living greenery is one of the most elegant ways to define spaces while maintaining an open, welcoming atmosphere. Depending on your objectives, we can create privacy using individual plant groupings, hedge walls, or custom-designed biophilic privacy walls that complement your event's overall aesthetic.
Privacy walls are particularly effective for executive lounges, hospitality suites, sporting events, VIP experiences, registration areas, media spaces, conferences, conventions, and outdoor activations where visual separation is desired without introducing temporary construction or hard barriers.
We invite you to explore The Temporary Tropics Times, where we regularly showcase custom privacy wall installations, design inspiration, and recent projects utilizing our extensive live foliage inventory.
Does Temporary Tropics offer greenery walls or hedge walls?
Yes. We offer a variety of greenery walls, hedge walls, and custom biophilic privacy solutions designed to suit both indoor and outdoor environments.
Whether your objective is to define a space, conceal back-of-house operations, create a branded backdrop, soften architectural elements, or elevate the guest experience, our design team will thoughtfully recommend a solution that aligns with your venue, event goals, and overall design aesthetic.
For inspiration, we encourage you to browse The Temporary Tropics Times, where you'll find examples of custom greenery walls, living privacy screens, and biophilic installations from recent projects.
Can I rent plants without planters?
Absolutely. Many Clients already have decorative planters onsite or prefer integrating our live foliage into existing containers.
In these situations, we simply request the interior and exterior dimensions of your planters so our Master Botanist can recommend plant species and nursery containers that fit appropriately while maintaining the healthiest growing conditions.
For Clients without existing planters, we also offer professional burlapping services and an extensive collection of designer planters to suit virtually any event aesthetic.
Does Temporary Tropics provide burlap-wrapped plants without planters?
Absolutely. Professional burlapping is one of our signature finishing services.
Rather than simply covering a nursery pot, we custom-cut fresh burlap for every installation and carefully wrap, taper, and style each plant by hand to create a clean, tailored presentation. The result is polished, intentional, and elevated—even without a decorative planter.
Burlapped live foliage is an excellent solution for conferences, conventions, executive meetings, sporting events, trade shows, exhibits, hospitality events, and corporate activations where budget, transportation, or design preferences call for a planter-less installation without compromising the overall aesthetic.
Does Temporary Tropics offer designer planters?
Yes. Our planter collection has been thoughtfully curated to complement a wide variety of architectural styles, event aesthetics, hospitality environments, and interior landscapes.
Our collections include:
Classic Collection — Practical, economical planters designed for budget-conscious installations without compromising professionalism.
Elevated Collection — Contemporary resin and premium composite planters offering an excellent balance between refined design and value. Styles range from modern and minimalist to mid-century, transitional, and timeless classics.
Designer Collection — A carefully curated assortment of luxury planters, including our extensive Lechuza Designer Collection alongside premium vessels selected for their craftsmanship, architectural appeal, and timeless elegance.
Should your project require a planter outside our existing catalogue, we're happy to source custom vessels through our trusted network of manufacturers and suppliers.
Does Temporary Tropics match plant selections to a corporate brand or event aesthetic?
Absolutely. This is one of our favorite parts of the creative process.
Every live foliage package is thoughtfully curated around your event objectives, venue, audience, architecture, and brand identity. Whether you're designing a luxury executive conference, tropical hospitality experience, modern product launch, sporting activation, experiential marketing campaign, or gala, we carefully select plant species, planter finishes, heights, textures, and layouts that reinforce your overall design vision.
Beautiful plant design should never feel generic—it should feel intentionally curated for your experience.
What is included in Temporary Tropics' live foliage rentals?
Every live foliage rental begins with understanding your vision.
We review your event objectives, venue, aesthetic preferences, floor plans, renderings, and budget before thoughtfully curating two or more live foliage package options for your consideration. Once your selections are finalized, we confirm the contract and begin preparing your living inventory specifically for your installation.
Before arriving onsite, every plant is professionally groomed, manicured, inspected, and prepared within our nursery. Where appropriate, foliage receives botanical leaf finishing before being carefully loaded for transport.
Upon arrival, our team delivers, unloads, professionally sets, and styles every plant according to your approved floor plan and the direction of your onsite team. We believe there is a meaningful difference between simply placing plants and thoughtfully styling them. Every installation is professionally finished using Spanish moss, burlap, decorative pebbles, mulch, or other top dressings appropriate for the selected design.
Following your event, our team returns at the agreed-upon time to carefully strike and remove the installation.
Our premium live foliage rentals may be contracted with or without decorative planters and are ideal for corporate events, conferences, conventions, trade shows, sporting events, hospitality, luxury weddings, and interior landscaping projects.
Does Temporary Tropics deliver, install, and remove the plants?
Yes. Our standard live foliage rental service includes delivery, unloading, professional installation, onsite styling, and scheduled removal for all temporary installations.
Following delivery, our team carefully places and styles every plant according to your approved floor plan and the direction of your onsite team. During installation, we maintain a clean, organized work environment while respecting venue operations and neighboring vendors.
Once your event concludes, we return at the agreed-upon date and time to professionally strike the installation and remove all contracted inventory.
Should additional labor or services be requested beyond the original scope or contracted timeline, those services will be invoiced following the event.
Does Temporary Tropics bring their own carts, protection materials, and installation equipment?
Absolutely. Every Temporary Tropics installation includes the professional equipment necessary to safely transport, protect, and install your live foliage. Our team arrives fully prepared with carts, floor protection materials, moving equipment, and specialized installation tools appropriate for the venue and scope of work.
Behind every seamless installation is thoughtful preparation. Our goal is to ensure the focus remains on the finished design—not the work required to create it.
Does Temporary Tropics work directly with my event planner, DMC, agency, hotel, or production team?
Absolutely. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.
We regularly partner with meeting planners, destination management companies (DMCs), event agencies, hotels, production companies, convention centers, audiovisual teams, florists, and venue staff throughout Florida and across the United States.
Our philosophy is simple: we strive to become a trusted Business Affiliate—an extension of your team rather than simply another vendor. Through proactive communication, thoughtful planning, and professional collaboration, we work together toward a shared objective: delivering an exceptional experience for your guests.
Does Temporary Tropics provide late-night or after-hours setups and strikes?
Yes. Many conferences, conventions, sporting events, hospitality activations, and executive meetings require overnight or after-hours installations to minimize disruption to venue operations.
As former Meeting Planners, we understand the importance of working within tight production schedules, restricted access windows, and overnight venue turnovers. Our team regularly performs early morning, overnight, and late-night installations and strikes while coordinating closely with venue management and production partners to ensure every phase of service remains seamless.
Does Temporary Tropics work around union labor, freight elevators, or strict venue access windows?
Absolutely. Many of the hotels, convention centers, arenas, and event venues we service operate under union regulations, designated freight schedules, and carefully managed loading procedures.
Our background in meeting planning provides us with firsthand understanding of these operational requirements. Through thoughtful planning, clear communication, and detailed scheduling, we coordinate every live foliage installation to work efficiently within venue protocols while minimizing delays and supporting the overall production timeline.
Successful installations begin long before load-in day. Our role is to ensure the logistics behind your event are just as seamless as the finished design.
Does Temporary Tropics handle street load-ins or complicated loading docks?
Yes. Many of the venues we service throughout South Florida and across the United States present unique logistical challenges, including limited loading docks, one-way service roads, restricted freight elevators, street closures, and carefully timed delivery windows.
Because our leadership comes from the meetings and hospitality industry, we understand these operational nuances long before installation day. Our team regularly coordinates with venues, municipalities, production partners, hotels, and event organizers to schedule permits, delivery windows, staging areas, and access requirements that contribute to a seamless load-in and load-out experience.
We often say that exceptional installations begin with exceptional planning—and thoughtful logistics are every bit as important as beautiful design.
Does Temporary Tropics clean and groom plants before installation?
Yes. Every plant that leaves our nursery is professionally groomed before arriving onsite. Depending on the species, this process includes pruning damaged foliage, cleaning leaves, rotating the plant for its strongest presentation, inspecting overall plant health, and making final styling adjustments.
We believe healthy, beautifully maintained plants are a reflection of our craftsmanship and the experience we deliver to our Clients. The difference is often subtle—but immediately noticeable.
Does Temporary Tropics use organic fertilizers or sustainable plant care products?
Yes. Whenever possible, we prioritize ethical nursery practices that support the long-term health of our living inventory.
Our plants are maintained using responsible fertilization programs and sustainable plant care methods that encourage healthy root development, vibrant foliage, and long-term resilience. We believe healthier plants create more beautiful installations, reduce unnecessary plant replacement, and support a more sustainable approach to live foliage rentals.
Healthy plants begin long before they arrive at your event.
Does Temporary Tropics use filtered water for plant health?
Yes. Every plant in our nursery is irrigated using filtered water through an automated irrigation system that allows us to remotely monitor and manage watering schedules.
Filtered water helps reduce the accumulation of salts, chlorine, and other impurities commonly found in municipal water, allowing many tropical plant species to thrive with less environmental stress over time.
While our Clients may never see this part of our operation, it's one of the many behind-the-scenes investments we make to ensure every plant arrives looking like the healthiest version of itself.
Does Temporary Tropics manicure and treat plants before events?
Absolutely. Every plant is inspected prior to delivery to ensure it meets our internal quality standards. Plants are evaluated for overall health, professionally groomed, cleaned, and prepared specifically for the environment they'll be entering.
Our goal is not simply to deliver plants—it is to deliver healthy, vibrant living décor that performs beautifully throughout your conference, convention, corporate event, sporting event, hospitality installation, or luxury celebration.
Does Temporary Tropics leaf-shine plants before installation?
Yes—but thoughtfully. Unlike many providers, we don't apply leaf shine indiscriminately. Our Master Botanist, Joseph Michel, has spent years studying the individual care requirements of tropical plant species and personally determines which plants can safely benefit from an organic leaf finish and which species require an alternative approach.
Some plants naturally respond better than others. For species that shouldn't receive traditional leaf shine, we prepare our own gentle alternative to achieve the same polished appearance without compromising plant health.
It's one of the many complimentary finishing touches that distinguish Temporary Tropics from traditional "drop-and-go" live foliage rental providers.
Does Temporary Tropics provide on-site plant styling?
Yes. We consider installation only the beginning of our work.
Once every plant has been placed, our team carefully styles each installation by adjusting plant orientation, fluffing foliage, rotating canopies toward the strongest viewing angle, refining spacing, and making final edits that elevate the overall presentation.
We believe there is a meaningful difference between placing plants and professionally styling them. That finishing process is included as part of our service because we believe every Client deserves an installation that looks complete—not simply delivered.
Does Temporary Tropics style Spanish moss, burlap, and top dressing?
Yes. Every finishing detail matters.
Whether we're applying Spanish moss, decorative pebbles, burlap, mulch, or other top dressings, our team styles each planter by hand to create a natural, balanced appearance.
We never simply place materials on top of the soil and move on. Spanish moss is opened, fluffed, layered, and shaped to complement each individual plant. Burlap is custom-cut and professionally wrapped.
These finishing touches require additional time, but they significantly elevate the overall presentation and reflect the pride we take in our work.
Does Temporary Tropics groom, rotate, and adjust plants onsite?
Absolutely. Every installation receives a final quality review before we consider the project complete.
Plants are rotated to present their strongest profile, spacing is refined, foliage is adjusted, and each grouping is evaluated from the same perspective your guests will experience.
This final editing process ensures every installation feels intentional, balanced, and polished. It's a level of care that may go unnoticed during setup—but is immediately appreciated in the finished result.
What role does your Master Botanist play in plant care and selection?
Joseph Michel, our Co-Founder and Master Botanist, oversees the horticultural integrity of our living inventory.
His expertise in plant propagation, sustainable nursery practices, plant health, and species-specific care guides everything from irrigation and fertilization to pruning, grooming, botanical finishing, and plant selection.
Every plant species has unique requirements, and Joseph's deep understanding ensures our living inventory remains healthy, resilient, and event-ready throughout its lifecycle. His knowledge allows us to confidently recommend the right plants for the right environment while never compromising long-term plant health.
Do multi-day rentals include maintenance?
It depends on the duration of the rental, the plant species selected, and the environment in which the plants will be displayed.
Many of our live foliage packages utilize species that require little to no maintenance over the course of a typical conference or multi-day event. Larger installations, outdoor environments, extended activations, or more delicate plant varieties may benefit from scheduled maintenance visits to ensure the plants remain healthy and presentation-ready throughout the rental period.
As your biophilic design partner, we'll recommend the most appropriate maintenance schedule based on your event's specific requirements. Our goal is simple: every plant should look just as beautiful at the conclusion of your event as it did during installation.
Can plants be repurposed across multiple event days?
Absolutely—and we often encourage it.
Many of our Clients strategically maximize their investment by repurposing live foliage throughout the duration of an event. Plants may begin in a registration area, transition into a general session, then move into an evening reception or departure celebration.
This approach not only enhances multiple experiences with a single live foliage package but also supports sustainable event practices by extending the usefulness of each installation.
Our team can coordinate all relocation services, or we can collaborate directly with your production team should you prefer to move the plants internally.
Can plants be donated after the event?
Yes. One of our favorite services is helping Clients extend the life of their live foliage through meaningful community giving.
As part of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) philosophy, Clients may elect to donate the plants from their event to a local nursing home, school, hospital, nonprofit organization, or community institution of their choice.
Our team prepares, transports, installs, and professionally styles the donated plants at their new home, allowing your event to leave a meaningful legacy long after the final guest has departed. Because this initiative aligns with our sustainability mission, these services are offered at a preferred rate whenever possible.
It's one small way we can collectively extend the life of living décor while creating a positive impact within the communities we serve.
Why do taller plants cost more, in general?
Plant pricing is influenced by much more than height alone.
As plants mature, they typically transition into larger nursery containers, requiring additional years of cultivation, greater greenhouse space, increased irrigation, more frequent maintenance, and significantly more labor throughout their lifecycle.
Larger plants also require larger decorative planters, specialized transportation equipment, additional installation personnel, and, in many cases, mechanical lifting equipment to safely navigate venues.
As a general guideline, plants exceeding approximately 25 gallons often require specialized handling due to their weight and size. While taller plants represent a greater investment, they also create substantially greater visual impact, making them one of the most effective ways to transform a space with relatively few design elements.
Does Temporary Tropics guarantee contracted plant sizes and quantities?
Yes. When we prepare a proposal, the plant species, heights, gallon sizes, quantities, and overall scope are clearly defined. We believe our Clients should receive exactly what they contracted.
Larger plants require years of cultivation, greater transportation resources, and additional labor, which is why plant height is an important part of every proposal.
We take that responsibility seriously, providing peace of mind that the installation delivered onsite reflects the package approved during the planning process.
What happens if a competitor fails and I need last-minute plant rentals?
It happens more often than many realize.
Throughout our history, Temporary Tropics has been called upon to rescue installations when another provider was unable to deliver contracted plant sizes, quantities, or overall quality.
While availability always depends on inventory and scheduling, we routinely support last-minute requests for conferences, conventions, executive meetings, sporting events, hospitality activations, trade shows, and luxury events throughout Florida.
Our experienced team understands the urgency of live events and works diligently to deliver thoughtful solutions when timing is critical.
Can Temporary Tropics fix or supplement another vendor's installation?
Yes. We've frequently been called upon to supplement existing installations or refine foliage packages that no longer align with a Client's expectations.
Whether additional greenery is needed, plant sizes require adjustment, privacy walls must be added, or an installation simply needs thoughtful refinement, we're happy to step in whenever possible.
Our goal is never to criticize another provider—it is simply to help our Clients achieve the event experience they originally envisioned. When circumstances require it, we become an extension of your team and work quickly to ensure the final result reflects the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and biophilic design.
