CASE STUDY: Creating Flow and Privacy with Live Foliage for a Wedding Celebration
While Temporary Tropics is widely known for supporting corporate events, conferences, and conventions throughout South Florida, we occasionally have the special opportunity to contribute to weddings for the very planners we collaborate with year-round. These celebrations allow us to apply the same strategic approach used in large-scale events to more intimate and personal environments.
Through thoughtful wedding plant rentals and botanical event décor, live foliage can help shape the atmosphere of a venue while guiding the flow of guests throughout the space.
Transforming a Restaurant Patio into a Wedding Environment
For this celebration, our design focused on transforming a portion of a restaurant’s outdoor patio into a beautifully defined wedding setting.
The venue planned to activate approximately one-quarter of the patio for the ceremony and reception, while the remaining area would temporarily house excess restaurant furniture. The challenge was to maintain a refined aesthetic while subtly concealing the unused sections of the space.
To solve this, we created a living wall of potted greenery, effectively forming an elevated version of a traditional hedge wall. Using live plant rentals, we arranged a series of lush plants side-by-side to create a natural botanical barrier that felt elegant rather than utilitarian.
This technique is often used in wedding plant rentals and greenery décor installations, where plants help divide spaces while maintaining a soft, organic atmosphere.
Designing a Botanical Showpiece for the Reception
Within the reception layout, we also introduced a focal installation for the charcuterie station.
For this moment, we selected large pom-pom topiary rentals, sculptural plants known for their dramatic spherical shapes. These showpiece topiaries created a visually striking accent that framed the station and elevated the presentation of the culinary display.
Topiaries are frequently incorporated into luxury wedding greenery design and botanical wedding décor, offering architectural structure while maintaining a timeless aesthetic.
Creating a Sanctuary for the Bride
Another important element of the installation was the green room space for the bride.
This private area allowed the bride to step away from the celebration when needed — a moment of calm before and during the festivities.
To create this sanctuary, we framed the space with lush tropical foliage, forming a soft botanical enclosure that felt peaceful and intimate. The greenery transformed the room into a tranquil oasis where the bride could relax and prepare for the next moments of her celebration.
This concept of creating intimate spaces within larger venues is a key aspect of successful event greenery styling and plant décor design.
Designing with Flow and Intention
Live foliage plays a unique role in event environments because it shapes both the visual design and the guest experience.
Across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach, planners frequently incorporate wedding plant rentals, tropical foliage décor, and botanical installations to create environments that feel natural, welcoming, and beautifully curated.
Whether defining spaces, highlighting focal areas, or creating private sanctuaries, greenery brings warmth and elegance into wedding celebrations.
