CASE STUDY: Cinematic Botanical Design for the New World Symphony Gala
Cinematic installations are one of the most exciting areas of modern event design. When lighting, décor, architecture, and greenery work in harmony, the result is an atmosphere that feels immersive, elegant, and emotionally engaging.

A Gala Installation in Miami Beach
For this project, our team was invited to contribute to the design of a gala hosted by the New World Symphony in Miami Beach.
Our client had developed a visually striking design concept that was dramatically understated — a refined aesthetic that relied on clean shapes, sculptural décor elements, and intentional use of space.
Our role was to introduce live foliage installations that would complement the architectural design while bringing softness, flow, and natural movement into the environment.
Designing with Shape and Movement
To align with the design direction, we selected plant varieties that offered both defined structure and airy foliage.
The botanical palette included:
Topiary plant rentals in sculptural shapes
Tropical palm tree rentals with flowing fronds
Topiaries are frequently used in luxury event foliage design because their geometric forms create visual structure within a space. Palms, on the other hand, provide organic movement and fullness, balancing the more formal lines of the topiaries.
Together, these elements created a design that felt both architectural and natural.
Playing with Scale and Balance
One of the most important aspects of the installation was maintaining visual balance throughout the space.
To achieve this, we used a pairing strategy that played with scale:
Taller topiaries were paired with smaller, fuller palms
Taller palms were paired with smaller sculptural topiaries
This alternating arrangement created rhythm throughout the room while ensuring that no single element dominated the environment.
These plant groupings were installed as both perimeter décor and stage-flanking greenery, helping define the event space while maintaining open sightlines for guests.
This technique is widely used in conference plant décor, gala greenery installations, and luxury event foliage styling, where symmetry and proportion play a key role in the overall visual experience.
A Perfect Balance of Shape and Flow
The final installation created a stunning botanical landscape that complemented the event’s floral arrangements and décor design.
The structured topiaries introduced shape and architectural definition, while the palms brought a sense of movement and softness to the space.
