A Rapid Transformation at DCOTA

With less than 48 hours’ notice, our team was tasked with designing and installing a large-scale greenery environment for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration inside the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) in Fort Lauderdale.

The venue itself is an expansive interior design marketplace — an unconventional but visually striking setting for a private celebration.

Our client had rented the space for a Bar Mitzvah celebration, with a creative vision of transforming the design center into a tropical destination reminiscent of a Caribbean resort.

To bring that vision to life, we curated and installed 300 tropical plant rentals, carefully selected to evoke the lush botanical landscapes found throughout island resorts.

Creating a Caribbean-Inspired Environment

The design concept centered around recreating the atmosphere of a tropical island retreat inside the venue.

Using palm tree rentals and tropical foliage décor, we layered greenery throughout the mall’s interior corridors and gathering areas.

These plants are commonly used in luxury event foliage installations and tropical-themed event décor, where the goal is to create immersive environments that transport guests beyond the physical location of the venue.

The result was a setting that felt vibrant, lush, and unmistakably tropical.

Designing Pathways and Grand Entrances

Because the design center features long corridors and multiple activated event areas, our greenery installations served an additional purpose — guiding guest movement throughout the space.

Through strategic placement of live foliage rentals, we created botanical pathways that led guests naturally between lounges, dining areas, and entertainment zones.

This included:

• Palm-lined corridors connecting event spaces

• Plants positioned to guide guests toward key areas such as restrooms and gathering points

To complement the tropical greenery, our client selected white Lechuza designer planters, known for their clean, contemporary aesthetic.

These elevated planters added a refined design element that balanced the lush greenery with modern elegance. The crisp white finish also helped reflect light throughout the venue, creating a bright and polished environment.
